The 30 year reunion of Scintillation Night Club was an overwhelming success. Over 800 dancers attended, coming as far away as Florida. Congratz to DJ Tyrone Ebo and Ron Campli. Another dance party is scheduled for November and for Thanksgiving night. Stay tuned.
Dvida Certification Course for Dance Instructors & Students 6 month program starting November 10th will consist of 4 dances, Cha-Cha, Salsa, Hustle and Rumba. Every Tuesday at Roy Arias Studio 218 w 37th str., NYC from 8pm-10:30pm, 60 hours in total. Class will be limited to 10 people. The Hustle is scheduled to be performed on ‘Dancing With The Stars’ this week. Lets hope that it is represented in it’s authentic form and not as a watered down mockery of disco. You can watch tonight, Monday, at 8PM, EST on ABC television.

A former United States Mambo Champion, Jami holds over 100 titles in competitions. The professional certification course for dance instructors is designed to get you there. The program offers extraordinary benefits to dance teachers, enriching their dancing, teaching and expanding their career opportunities. The course is to enable you to gain certification int he dance style you teach or desire to teach. It is a comprehensive program designed to teach you dance concepts that you may not have completely understood. Ultimately, you will improve your verbal skills, self confidence and presentation technique. You will develop the ability to break down movements to describe the technical elements of dance figures, which will make your students gain a higher level of understanding. Your overall knowledge of the precise alignments will improve your ability to choreograph routines for your students. You will expand your knowledge of music terms, concepts, and how dance and music each relate. Your personal ability to fix and correct your students will be enhanced as you develop the advanced technical skills. The certification exam which you will be prepared for is the “DVIDA” Dance Vision International Dance Association. The teacher training curriculum is based on the DVIDA syllabus and the Pro DVIDA exam structure which is recognized by the National Dance Council Of America. The first 6 month program starting in November will consist of 4 dances from the American Style DVIDA syllabus: Cha-Cha, Salsa, Hustle, Rumba. The program will be held one night a week for two and a half hours for a total of 60 hours. Class size is limited to 10. World Dance Champion Jami Josephson will be conducting the program.
